The Government of Kenya through Tanathi Water Works Development Agency (TAWWDA) has disbursed funding for the implementation of Wote Water Supply Project budgeted under the financial year 2020/2021.

During a meeting held between Engineer’s from Tanathi Water Works Development Agency, The Governor Makueni County (H.E Prof. Kivutha Kibwana) and representatives from the County Government’s department of Water it was noted that there being several other projects being implemented within Wote town under different programs it was prudent to re allocate the funds to other areas within Makueni County.
Emali town is one of the fastest growing town located in Makueni County along the Nairobi Mombasa Highway and lacks adequate water and sewer coverage. Its due to the afore mentioned factors that it was agreed that the funding for Wote Water Supply Phase II be reallocated to Emali town to improve and augment the existing water infrastructure.
The objective of the proposed project is to improve access to safe, reliable, sustainable, and affordable water supply services through increased network coverage to the newly constructed Emali Water Supply Project by the County Government of Makueni.
Towards realization of this, Tanathi Water Works Development Agency appointed a team of engineers to undertake design for additional water supply distribution infrastructure within Emali town. This brief presents findings and designs interventions proposed by the team of engineers from their desk study, site visits and stakeholder meetings.
